What will you gain if you attend our parenting course?

You gain quality social time with other adults who are going through similar situations to yourself

Everyone struggles with parenting – It isn’t an easy thing to go through, and who wants a professional sitting there telling you what not to do and what is best for you and your family? This course is ran by parents FOR parents. We have all gone through the same situations and what your kids have done our kids have probably done ten times over! We have tried these parenting methods from the course and they DO work! That’s why we trained to deliver them to other parents because we love the course that much! Not every method will work for you, as every child is different and every person likes to parent different from the next, but we haven’t had one parent say absolutely nothing worked for them! It is an 8 week course, sometimes it takes getting to weeks 4 or 5 before something works, but there IS always something!! Everyone else on the course can also support each other and form friendships. We have no judgements here!

    So why not enquire?

  • Consequences?? Help! My child pulled his TV off the wall!

One topic we discuss on the course is consequences and we actually look at what is a consequence? Well, a consequence is something that happens as a result or response to behaviour (in this context it would be unacceptable behaviour) and the unacceptable behaviour is my son actually pulled his TV off the wall!

Yes, I am a parent who runs these courses, and my child loves to express his feelings with outbursts of anger. He had a wobbly morning this morning, and was feeling very angry at the world when I asked him to tidy his bedroom. In response he pulled his TV off his wall bracket leaving a gaping hole in his wall and as a result his TV can no longer go on the wall and we have no TV stand. This means my child is left without a TV in his bedroom, meaning his Xbox wont be able to work without the TV. He gave himself a natural consequence without me having to dish out the punishment for him. Although the Xbox isn't broken, it cannot work without a working TV. As a result of his actions, the Xbox has gone, along with the TV until his wall can be fixed.

A natural consequence is something that happens as a result of a child’s actions, e.g. something breaking because a ball was brought into the living room when that’s not allowed. A logical consequence to a rule such as no balls are allowed inside a living room, is if this happens the ball will be taken away. This allows the child to make the choice as to what action to take, and any consequences they do receive are by their own doing.

On the course we discuss giving out consequences with a choice for the child to take the right action and the importance on how we give out consequences. Come along to our 8 week courses for more information and great parenting tips! Contact Sammi, Mel or Katie for more info!

Every so often we will be uploading a blog from either ourselves or one of our volunteers on our "mum life" or "dad life" Because we do have male volunteers. Did you also know we also run a being a dad group specific to just dads only? Please contact us for more information on when this is running!

This blog will be full of tips and tricks on what we have done to manage a situation at home, or even just a what not to do on how dramatically wrong something has gone, because lets face it, we are all parents and yes... things do go wrong, and it is human to admit that it does go wrong from time to time! A topic we discuss a lot on our course is we are not perfect parents because the perfect parent does not exist! So lets give ourselves a break and let ourselves off the hook a little and remember we are good enough and doing the best we can with the knowledge we have been given!

So for now, I'm going to wish youse all a happy day and I hope you all look forward to our first blog!

Filling our jugs is the hardest part of parenting...but one of the most important jobs!

How can we function when running on empty? Have you ever thought about your morning life trying to get your children ready for their day?

Shoes lost, but no-one knows where!

Socks being thrown around the house

Breakfast- toast didn't want toast, cereal I don't want cereal, pancakes burnt!

    Uniforms to get on

    Pack lunches to pack

Leave the house with only one shoe on!

Lots of little stresses on a morning before you have even left for school run! By the time you are ready and organised your jug is EMPTY! Always find time to fill your jug and do something nice for you.

    Doesn't matter what it is:

Run a nice, peaceful hot bath

    Read a book

    Colour in

    Go for a walk

    Have a coffee

    Do a puzzle

Or anything that fits with what you like to do!

We have been organising free breakfast and play over the summer holidays for parents who have been attending our courses. The cost of living is rising and we wanted to make sure our parents and their children can come and have fun at the Brewers Fayre on the marina for free, including free breakfast once a week!

Here are some photos of our first session!

We are looking to include a warm, fun activity and free food although this is still in the planning! For anyone looking to qualify for this activity the only criteria is you must have completed our 8 week being a parent course! Enquire with us now!

Some of our parents just love to try and hide from our group photo

We caught you Hannah! Hiding behind the wall!   Peek-a-boo!

    Breakfast and play week 3!

Well I had a jolly week off on holiday!!

You can tell I was off because Mrs "snap happy" with the camera wasn't going around taking photo's of everyone this week!

We did however get a lovely group photograph for everyone to upload!

I was a little gutted to be missing this week - A lot of my lovelies that I delivered to this week were all here! I'm sure I was missed! (I hope haha!) You were all in Katie's capable hands and she does a fab job!

I'm sure you all had a fab time without me! I had a fab time on holiday and all the skills I teach everyone on a weekly basis were definitely put to the test!!

I'm back now and I'm sure I'll be back with my camera ready for week 4! (Watch this space!)

    Love Sammi!! xxx

Week 4 of breakfast and play at the Brewers Fayre!

Meet Jake! Our staff member from the Brewers Fayre this week who looked after us! He was awesome and he took our group photograph!

Lots of friendly faces and some new ones!   A few people didn't want to be in our group photograph today but they still enjoyed being with us and having fun! It was great to catch up with people who were on courses with us earlier in 2022! Once you are in our contact details, you are always welcome to stay in touch with us and welcomed in our activities!

Jake even had a little helper today behind the desk!

    He's a little diamond!

We even had a little birthday celebration today! Happy birthday little man! Sorry the weather was so terrible but I hope you've had a smashing day celebrating with us and your mum!

Thank you for coming everyone! It was great to see you all!

It is our last session next week!
