Domestic abuse support services
We want to find out how our domestic abuse services are meeting the needs of local people and where we need to make improvements. Domestic abuse is defined in the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 as any of the following actions that have taken place between two people who are partners / ex-partners or family members and are both over the age of 16:
a) Physical or sexual abuse;
b) Violent or threatening behaviour;
c) Controlling or coercive behaviour;
d) Economic abuse;
e) Psychological, emotional or other abuse;

In this survey:
- You can tell us about your experience if you have used a local domestic abuse service
- If you have not used services you can tell us why you didn't use the services and if there is anything that would have helped you make use of the services available
Local domestic abuse services are those which happen in Hartlepool and could include:
- Local police
- Refuge or other temporary accommodation
- Counselling service
- Legal / housing advice services
- Outreach services
- IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advocate) service / specialist domestic abuse service
- Adult and child safeguarding
- Health services
- Mental health services
- Probation services
