Literacy empowers and liberates people. Beyond its importance as part of the right to education, literacy improves lives by expanding capabilities which in turn reduces poverty, increases participation in the labour market and has positive effects on health and sustainable development.
Hartlepool Borough Council has organised the first ever Hartlepool Literacy Summit which will take place on Wednesday 26 February 2025 and the event will be at Hartlepool College of Further Education. The summit brings together all interested parties including businesses, statutory organisations, education providers and community groups.
We have gathered an exemplary group of professionals to lead workshops on many of these issues and start the conversation on how we can work together to support people to reach their full potential across Hartlepool.
