Consultation has concluded

Significant changes to early years and childcare provision are coming from April 2024. The government is increasing the age range of children that can access funded childcare as well as improving access to ‘wrap-around’ childcare for children aged 5-11 years during term time.

For more information on the new offer go to Childcare Choices | 30 Hours Childcare, Tax-Free Childcare and More | Help with Costs | GOV.UK (opens in new window).

By 2026 most working parents will be able to access up to 30 hours per week funded childcare for children aged from 9 months up to when they start school.

In addition, ‘wrap-around’ provision will be strengthened where there is demand – this means term time childcare for school aged children aged 5-11 years before school (from 8am) and after school (until 6pm). Wrap-around provision can be with a school, with private, voluntary or independent provider or with a registered childminder.

To help us plan how and where we should arrange extra provision to be most convenient for parents please complete this short survey.

The closing date for the survey is 2nd January 2024.
